DCD had a Mass Casualty Exercise this morning in the OBI. The scenario was a gas explosion in a residential block with 59 Casualties.
136 Volunteers were involved from 07.30 to 13.00 in the exercise with our Welfare Team providing a hot meal at the finish. Congratulations to our Volunteers that organized an extremely good exercise with lots of learning outcomes for all.

DCD Swords Unit provided Medical and Water Rescue for the unveiling of the Luke Kelly memorial statue along the banks of the Royal Canal close to where he was born.
DCD provided Medical Cover in the Mansion House today for the 100th Anniversary of the Dail.
DCD Incident Response Unit fully operational with logistical equipment for a 100 persons Emergency Rest Centre. Equipment includes beds, sleeping bags, pillows, collapsable wardrobes, animal cages, generators, emergency lighting and many other sundries, all preloaded on trolleys.

Minister of Defence Paul Keogh TD presented Drone Pilot Certificates to Members of Civil Defence this afternoon. This increases our Drone Teams to 20 Operational Teams around the County. Well done to our two new pilots and special thanks to our Welfare team in providing Tea, Coffee and Sandwiches for all.
Our Annual Service for Deceased Members of Dublin Civil Defence took place in McKee Army Barracks today. This was held in conjunction with a presentation of long service medals. Special thanks to our Colour Party and to the Lord Mayor of Dublin Cllr. Nial Ring, Cllr. Eimer Higgins from South Dublin Co Co, CEO Dublin City Council Owen Keegan, A/Chief Fire Officer Dennis Keeley.

Tuesday Night Rescue units from Rathra and Swords carried out a plane crash night exercise in the Furry Glen tonight. Our logistics unit provided emergency lighting. Well done to all involved. Exercise involved the search and rescue of 6 casualties and a search for aircraft parts including the black box.
Our Cold Weather Shelter for the Homeless will open tonight and will remain open till March 2019. We can accommodate 20 persons on bunk beds. All enquiries must be through the DCC Homeless Section.

The transporter for our Hagglunds is a new addition to our fleet. MAN truck with a beaver tail that has been adapted for our needs. We have also installed a winch to enable recovery of other vehicles.

ARC Cancer Support Torch of Hope took place this evening with DCD providing Welfare and Medical Support. Over 420 participants received a hot meal in the CHQ building. Great work from our Welfare Team.
