An Taoiseach Enda Kenny officially opened the new dining hall and recreation area in Barretstown this morning. The building set among the oak trees has to be seen to be believed. All timber and glass with fantastic views on all sides. Well done to all involved.

DCD held a Remembrance Service for deceased members in the garrison church in McKee Army Barracks last Sunday. We also had a medal ceremony for volunteers that have given long service to their community. We also had a wonderful solo performance from Clodagh Byrne.
DCD will open the Emergency Rest Shelter in the Esplanade to provide a Cold Weather Shelter for the Homeless from Monday night. This will involve Civil Defence Volunteers from Dublin and Volunteers from other Counties in conjunction with DCC Homeless section. Remedial works are being carried out by the homeless section of DCC to upgrade the accommodation. A total of 20 beds will be made available.
Well done to the 10 DCD Volunteers that passed their Level 1 Rope Rescue Assessments today. Special thanks to their instructors and the assessors from Meath CD.
Busy day for DCD providing Medical cover for the Clontarf Half Marathon and providing Fire, Rescue and Medical at the Aviva for the Rugby match between Ireland and the All Blacks. 25 volunteers, 3 Ambulances and 1 jeep at the half marathon and 33 volunteers at the Aviva.
DCD took part in a National Radiation Monitoring Exercise this morning. DCD Warden service were tasked to two town lands in County Dublin to take radiation readings and grass samples and record their findings. All radiation readings and grass samples will be correlated nationally and sent to the EPA.
A field skills search course took place last weekend with units from Marino AFS, Monday Rescue and the SUA team. Two observers from the Dublin Rangers also took part. A Welfare team provided a hot meal for the participants.
DCD had a busy afternoon with flares in the Aviva for the FAI Cup Final. Well done to all concerned.
Terrific celebration of Halloween by Dublins Inner City Community supported by DCD.
Last night was a busy night for DCD providing Fire and Medical cover in various parts of the City and County.
DCD provided Medical cover for the Halloween Run for Your Life in Malahide Castle. Two 4x4 Ambulances and six mountain bikes were on duty.
The 8 day OPM course was held in the OBI this week DCD provided logistical support and an assistant trainer for the course. This course prepares EU members for overseas relief missions.
Well done to all who participated in the Swim Assessment in the Blessington Lake yesterday. Twenty Two volunteers took part to qualify for the Rescue 3 flood responder course. Well done to all.
A Lifepack 1000 AED was donated by the McGavin family in memory of their Son Brian who passed away recently. Brian was a member of Central AFS for 11yrs and a valuable member of Civil Defence.
