DCD held their third annual Family Day today in the OBI. Over 360 in attendance and a great day was had by all with face painting, bouncy castles, free ice creams and a bbq. We would like to thank all our volunteers involved in running the event and all the families that allow their loved ones to be part of our great organization.
DCD had an extremely busy weekend last Saturday and Sunday. We covered two sea swims, Skerries 100, Track Cycling in the Sundrive Velodrome, Clontarf Half Marathon and the National Day of Commemoration. We also erected Army Tents for the Achill half Marathon.
Six Members of DCD took part in a two day 4x4 Off Road Training Course in Millbrook this weekend.
DCD provided two Rescue Boats for the Special Olympics Sea Swim today.
DCD Volunteers attended their Flight School Course for our Drones in Gormanston Army Camp today.
DCD provided Medical Cover for the Kite Festival on Dollymount Beach today in glorious sunshine. Deputy Lord Mayor of Dublin Clr. Aine Clancy paid a visit to the Medical Tent.
DCD had to come with an ingenious way to supply water to sailing boats in Hanover Quay today. One of the boats took over 7000lt. Well done guys.
DCD are providing Water Rescue and Command and Control for the Tall Ships in Dublin Docklands over the bank holiday weekend. Waterford CD are providing three coxswain today and tomorrow and are a pleasure to work with. We had a busy day with a search for a missing person In Spencer Dock. DCD also assisted with providing water for boats on Hanover Quay.
DCD provided Rescue, Medical and Welfare for the Barretstown Mountain Challenge today with 700 participants taking part in a fundraiser. 58 Volunteers, 5 Ambulances, 12 Support Vehicles including our Welfare unit. Over 800 were given a hot meal at the top of Three Mountain.
Well done to our Central AFS unit on their Polish and Shine of their Appliances.
70 members of Civil Defence took part in the PMI 2018 in Lourdes. Congratulations to the Head Chaplain Fr Seamus Madigan and his team for an enlightening memorable occasion.
The Hagglund and a crew of three DCD Volunteers assisted our colleagues in Clare Civil Defence in the exhumation of a British Soldier executed almost 100yrs ago.
The Hagglund team transported various agencies over difficult terrain and worked closely wth Clare CD in this historic exhumation. It proves that being a National Organization that CD units can work seamlessly together.

A search for a missing person was carried this evening. 52 DCD Volunteers took part and our drone team.
Our HRD search dog received a special award for his contribution for assisting in searches throughout the Country.
Fifty four DCD Volunteers received their 2016 Medals in Fingal County Council Chambers this evening.
Mayor of Fingal Cllr Mary McCamley, CEO Paul Reid, Aidan Dillon representing the Department of Defence and ACDO Fergus Byrne presented the 2016 Medals.
Four members of DCD took part in the two day training course for the Hi-Abb crane on our Logistics Truck.
Third Officers Paul Haugh and Graham Murphy paid a visit to former Volunteer John Mooney in the Township of King, where he is a firefighter.
