Dublin Civil Defence recently visited THW Marburg (the German Agency for Technical Relief). THW is part of the German emergency services, providing support for public emergencies and disasters. The organization was founded in 1950 and has since grown into a modern flexible emergency service, closely mirroring many of the services provided by the Irish Civil Defence. Just like the Civil Defence THW is mostly made up of volunteers, representing 99% of all members.
Special big Thank you to Joerg, Anni, Lisa and all the Volunteers in THW Marburg for making our visit to Germany so memorable. Also thank you to THW in Gisan and Korbach, the Fire Crews and Ambulance service and the emergency control room staff in Marburg. Great few days.
CDO's and ACDO's.
